Apprenticeship Application Process

Please Note: Applications for the 2018 Apprenticeship Class will end with the March 1st application date.

Beginning with the 2019 Apprenticeship Class, all applications will be submitted online. The JATC will no longer accept applications on the first Thursday of every month, but will have an open application window from January 1st, 2019 through March 31st, 2019. Check back here after the March 1st application date for more details on the new application process.


The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) of Local 269, International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers will accept applications for Apprenticeship from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays during the first week of each month. Applications will be accepted at:

ALL APPLICANTS MUST APPLY IN PERSON AND COMPLETE THE APPLICATION AT THAT TIME.  All required documentation must be submitted no later than 30 days from the application date.  To meet the minimum qualifications for apprenticeship, applicants must:

  1. Be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of indenture.
  2. Be at least a high school graduate, or have a GED or have a two-year Associate Degree or higher.
  3. Show evidence of successful completion of: one full year of high school algebra
    with a passing grade or one post high school algebra course with a passing grade.
  4. Provide an official transcript for high school and post high school education
    and training. All GED records must be submitted if applicable.
  5. Submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they are a
    veteran and wish to receive considerations for such training/experience.
  6. Qualify for interview by obtaining a passing grade using the electrical trade’s
    aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.
  7. Present evidence that they possess a valid driver’s license.
  8. Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of interviewed
    applicants will be required to provide results of a physical examination and a
    drug test as decided by the JATC.
  9. Individuals who can verify (proper documentation required) that they have
    worked a minimum of four thousand (4000) hours specifically in the electrical
    construction trade, do not need to meet the requirements of items (2.) and (3.).
  10. Individuals who have worked a minimum of forty-five hundred (4500) hours
    as a Residential Wireman under an IBEW/NECA local Collective Bargaining
    Agreement (proper documentation required), do not need to meet the
    requirements of items (2.) and (3.).
  11. Individuals who have completed at least 3 years of related instruction and
    4,500 hours of OJT as indentured apprentices in a properly registered electrical
    construction apprenticeship program not sponsored by IBEW/NECA (proper
    documentation required), do not need to meet the requirements of items (2.) and (3.).
  12. Trade requires climbing and working in high places.
  13. Live in the Jurisdiction for one year.

The recruitment, selection, employment and training of apprentices during their
apprenticeship, shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex or age - except the applicant must be at least 17 years of age to apply and 18 years of age at the time of indenture. The JATC does not, and will not discriminate against a qualified individual with a disability because of the disability of such individual. The sponsor will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under applicable law and lawful regulations issued thereunder.

Applicants who meet all basic requirements will be interviewed by the JATC.
Apprentices will be selected in order of their final ranking.
